Gunsgreen Chinoiserie

£80.00

A remarkable block printed, stencilled and hand painted wallpaper dating to c1770. It was discovered at Gunsgreen House, Eyemouth, one of Adams earliest commissions. Although technically similar to the Chinese export papers of the period, with rich carmine  and delicate coloured glazes, it is a clever design based on Jacobean textiles. We were able to reconstruct the original fragment using the traditional techniques of hand block printing, stencilling and hand finishing as part of the representation of these sumptuous interiors and can now offer this as a fine art facsimile, printed in our own studios.
