Conservation of Historic Interiors. West Dean College 23-26th November

Bringing together senior conservators who have worked on many of the iconic conservation projects of the last three decades. A great chance to discuss the joys and dilemmas as the conservator/ restorer uncovers the past and adapts to the challenges of more diverse use and greater accessibility. I will be joined by Heather Tetley, Stephen Clare, John Hartley, Helen Hughes and Geoffrey Preston in considering commissioning  and  research, and the conservation of wallpapers , carpets, architectural stucco and plasterwork, architectural joinery and stained glass in the historic interior. The course will include a tour of Uppark , a project which proved seminal in the development of modern conservation. This will be led by experienced conservators who worked on restoring the house , pioneering new techniques and developing a better understanding of traditional skills.
