Yesterday was yet another lovely day at Hampton Court hosted by SPAB and Historic Royal Palaces. The Masterclass began with a walking tour of interiors in the palace and featured lectures by Patrick Baty, our leading Historic Paint Consultant who has worked on over 200 projects in Grade 1 and 2* listed buildings in both the UK and abroad.( http://patrickbaty.co.uk/ www.papers-paints.co.uk) and myself, oddly enough, talking about Historic Wallpapers. We also discussed the benefits of teamwork and illustrated this with several examples of successful projects where we have worked in tandem including Temple Newsam House and , more recently the remarkable 20thc interiors at New Lanark in Scotland. The day concluded with Adrian demonstrating the traditional techniques used in block printing and everyone had a chance to give it a go!
Many thanks to all concerned with organising such an enjoyable day.
The Masterclass will be repeated at the same time next year. For information contact myself, SPAB (www.spab.org.uk/ ) or Historic Royal Palaces. (www.hrp.org.uk/)
